Description
I went this morning to watch a Wild Horse and Burro Auction here in Southwest Louisiana. I remember watching a small herd of the horses a couple of years ago in Upper Nevada. I think back how majestic and free they looked running across a hillside.
This morning I found a group of animals who's spirits had long since been taken from them. They stood motionless, almost in a drugged state.
The saddest part is that I also expected a large response from the local ranchers in our area due to their obvious love of Horses. There was a total of 3 other people there and only 2 of the horses had even been bid on.
I walked away very sad and thinking to myself how could we ever convince ourselves that we are "saving" them by doing this to them.

My Family and I have now moved back to Nevada..... Again, I can return to the upper state and see them and share the True Beauty of Wild Horses within their natural habitat. Looking forward to be able to see them again.... But I have also heard that there is soon to be another 200 of these Wild Horses rounded up and taken away... I'm afraid to say they also will end up along this type of action...

I just got through reading a wonderful book by Melinda Roth called Mestengo. It's about a woman and a wild mustang she befriendes. Made me laugh and cry. It tells about the horrible treatment by the BML against these wonderful animals. But in between the horrible there are wonderful moments that warm the soul.
