As I walked up, he reached out his hand. Hobo Benoit's the name... and you? And for the next close to 30 minutes we stood and talked on the side of the road in Sulpher, LA where I had driven by him as he stood singing and strumming his guitar all by himself, or at least that was my 1st impression.
I had passed by, but had to go back. I asked where he's played and he smiled and said " Oh a few places around the country but mainly right here... I was born and raised right here in Sulpher, 62 years ago..
So I asked him.... Who do you sing for.. His answer was " Now a days, I sing mainly for the Lord."" and that was when I noticed the small little cross that hung around his neck....
.His songs ranged from some old Baptist hymnals, a little Elvis, and some Johnny Cash, a couple of his own and even Ms. Tammy's D.I.V.O.R.C.E..... which he did looking down at the ground,,, maybe a little closer to home.... but he didn't say....

As of June of 2023, my wife and I have decided to begin a new journey along our paths in life. We have decided to choose the road less taken, and have packed what we can into the back of our van and have left Texas, traveling deep into Mexico and are now are residing in the Pueblo known as La Floresta, Ajijic, in the state of Jalisco Mexico. The cultures, history and the people of Mexico are what brought us here. We are hoping to travel around Mexico learning and sharing the beauty of this country.
