On the battle scarred walls, brick structures and the rubble of the cities left behind after Germany's defeat in Europe the sign of the forces of United States Soldier could be found...

Kilroy... a scribbled cartoon figure showing a simple man with only the upper half of his head peeking over a drawn wall with his nose hanging over the wall and the his two hands grasping the top of the wall with the claim.

Each time I find the long billed Brown Pelican along the waterways of Southwest Louisiana with it's spiked feathers on top of it's head and long bill peaking back at me thorough the lens of my camera, for some reason... Those words come to mind...
